The Ghan
An odd name, but a living legend in Australian history. The Ghan first left Adelaide for Alice Springs in 1929, but only in 2004, as the line reached Darwin, did it become a journey through the heart of Australia ( off-train touring is available at Katherine). Gold Kangaroo Service allows guests to follow the great explorers and Afghan Cameleers – in air conditioned comfort – with a fine restaurant-car, and the lounge-car hosting Journey Information Sessions giving details on local flora and fauna.
Payable locally for off-train tours option in Katherine with a choice of 5 tours.
From £376 per person for Adelaide to Alice Springs or vice versa including Gold Kangaroo Sleeper accommodation for 1 night
