South Africa Safari

15 Days South Africa Safari
Nature & Wildlife, Walking, Trekking & Hiking
Introduction
South Africa is one of the most vibrant and exciting destinations on the planet, and is a favourite for families. It’s also a land of great diversity and on this trip we have the chance to see some of the best of it. Kruger National Park is one of the best parks on the continent, where we have excellent chances to spot the big five in their natural surroundings. From there we travel to the tiny country of Swaziland, where ancient tribal customs and cultures are still practised, and then onto the mountain kingdom of Lesotho, where we can take ponies into the Drakensberg Mountains. We then journey down South Africa’s spectacular coastline and finish up with 3 nights to relax by the Indian Ocean.

Day 1, PRETORIA Arrive and check in to your hotel. No meals.

Day 2, PILGRIM’S REST We leave the city behind and head north, to the historic settlement of Pilgrim’s Rest, an old gold mining town that looks almost the same today as it did a hundred years ago. En route we stop at the Mac Mac Falls. (BLD)

Day 3, KRUGER NATIONAL PARK Setting off early we drive through Mpumalanga Province, stopping off at the Blyde River Canyon and Bourke’s Luck Potholes, a series of unusual rock formations, before arriving in Kruger National Park in the afternoon. We take a game drive on arrival. (BLD)

Day 4, KRUGER NATIONAL PARK We enjoy two game drives through the park, in search of the big five. All of the amazing wildlife of South Africa can be found here and we hope to spot lion, rhino, elephant, giraffe and perhaps leopard and cheetah. (BL)

Day 5, SWAZILAND After a morning game drive we travel to the small kingdom of Swaziland and into Mlilwane Game Reserve. This afternoon we go on a game drive to search for more of the area’s wildlife. (BLD)

Day 6, SWAZILAND Morning and afternoon game drives through Mlilwane Game Reserve. (BL)

Day 7, ST LUCIA Morning drive to St Lucia, a world heritage site with a fantastic beach, where you have the opportunity to take a sundowner cruise on the nearby lake. (BL)

Day 8, ST LUCIA We take a morning excursion to Hluhluwe/Umfolozi National Park, home to the largest population of black and white rhino in the world. In the afternoon we return to St Lucia. (BL)

Day 9, DRAKENSBERG MOUNTAINS We head inland and drive through the spectacular scenery of the Drakensberg Mountains, one of South Africa’s most impressive areas. (BL)
