Introduction
An exploration of Cuba, past and present. On this thrilling tour we head for the island's Caribbean beaches and central highlands, taking time to visit magnificent colonial towns and enjoy the beauty of the coastal scenery. On the way we'll learn about Cuba's past and present, and... discover the salsa dancer within us!

OLD HAVANA & THE CARIBBEAN
Havana, the Cuban capital and a World Heritage site, boasts some of the most impressive architecture in the Americas. We'll explore the vibrant colonial quarter, wander its narrow streets and have the opportunity to visit the Museum of the Revolution. Then we drive to the Zapata Peninsula, before visiting the infamous Bay of Pigs. We spend two nights on the Caribbean from where we can visit the laid-back town of Trinidad - with its faded, painted houses and atmospheric streets.

MOUNTAIN FORESTS & HUMMINGBIRDS
Next we head into the mountains to Topes de Collantes National Park, where we camp on the grounds of a hacienda. Exploring this wild area on foot, we can really enjoy the remoteness and highland views of this hidden corner of Cuba. We'll swim in waterfalls and discover forest trails, hoping to catch a glimpse of tiny hummingbirds and perhaps the Tocororo - Cuba's national bird.

BEACHES & 'MOGOTES'!
Travelling across the mountains and down to the plains, we head for the Mausoleum of Ché Guevara at Santa Clara. We continue to Varadero on the north coast - with a chance to enjoy a shoreline of superb beaches. Heading west we stay near Pinar del Rio. From here we will venture into the Viñales region to discover the dramatic scenery of sheer limestone peaks (Mogotes) rising from the valley floor - either on foot or by bike. We take a ferry over to Cayo Levisa, blessed with beautiful sands, azure sea and offshore coral reefs before returning to Havana.
