Okavango Adventure

13 Days Okavango Adventure
Wildlife, Wilderness and Waterfalls
Botswana - Zambia

Introduction
Botswana is one of only a few African countries that have managed to maintain their exclusivity and vast areas of untouched wilderness. Not only do we enjoy the serene beauty of the Okavango Delta - a huge freshwater oasis in the Kalahari Desert - but we also explore the northern game parks and wildlife reserves of Moremi and Chobe. Another highlight is our time spent walking with the local San Bushmen near the World's largest salt pans of Makgadikgadi. Crossing into Zambia there's plenty of time to enjoy awe-inspiring Victoria Falls together with a whole host of fun activities.

THE OKAVANGO DELTA
We begin with a drive to our bush camp at Xaxanaka, deep in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Hundreds of species of animal and bird are attracted to this fertile, freshwater basin. We'll spend time exploring the channels and reedbanks by boat and safari vehicle. Hippo, crocodile, red lechwe and a great variety of birdlife are normally easy to spot.

SAN BUSHMEN AND SALT PANS
We'll also search for wildlife in the Khwai River area of Moremi Game Reserve, a lush landscape of forests and flood plains. Giraffe and buffalo are commonly sighted, as well as predators like lion, leopard, jackal and hyena. Then we travel from Delta to Desert as we head south to reach the edge of the Kalahari. At our lodge close to Gweta, we'll perhaps enjoy a refreshing swim after venturing out for a nature walk with the San Bushmen and a visit to a local village. Quad bikes provide an unusual form of transport for exploring the unique area that is the vast hot expanse of Ntwetwe Salt Pan and Nxaisini Fossil Pan (optional).

CHOBE NATIONAL PARK & VICTORIA FALLS
From our comfortable lodge at Kasane we make forays into the beautiful game park of Chobe in search of some of the large herds of elephant that made the park famous. Birdwatching is also superb, particularly along the banks of the Chobe river. Next, we cross the mighty Zambezi River into Zambia and reach the adventure capital of Livingstone. We'll see the raging 'Smoke that Thunders', Victoria Falls, and have an option to safari in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park in search of white rhinos. For adrenaline junkies, numerous fun activities are possible locally.
