Dahab, a desert oasis and retreat is situated only 90
km north of the international resort and airport of Sharm el
Sheikh. This unique tourist destination was originally an
untouched palm-fringed bay visited by Nomadic Bedouin. In the
seventies it developed a reputation as a hippie colony.
The water temperature ranges from 27°C in the summer to 21°C in
the winter, creating a tropical environment for the abundance
of corals and marine life that lives there. Over the past five
years Dahab has benefited from a rapid expansion of the
infrastructure, making it one of the most popular destinations
in the region, boasting modern facilities while retaining its
original ethnic charm.
The tourist village of "Assalah"
with its thatched beachside cafes, colourful market, and
constant parade of tasselled camels and white-robed Bedouins,
is nestled against the rugged mountain skyline and azure
sparkling waters.
Today, Dahab has kept its 'laid back' feel and offers the keen Scuba
diver an alternative to the mainstream tourist resort.
In Dahab we are delighted to offer the budget hotel
Bedouin
Moon which offers dive inclusive packages.

What
is Reef 2000?
Reef
2000 is a British-owned PADI Dive Club run by your hosts
Rochelle and David, and their experienced team of Divemasters and Instructors. They offer diver training in a
relaxed environment, ranging from the beginner-level
Open
Water course through to the professional
Divemaster
qualification.
Reef 2000
also organise guided dives for qualified divers, camel
safaris, boat-diving safaris, and various other activities for
the diver and non-diver alike. These include visits to St
Catherine's Monastery, evening dinner excursions into the
mountains, snorkelling trips, horse-riding opportunities, and
wind-surfing lessons. Above all, Reef 2000 like their guests
to gain an insight to the local culture, resulting in an
enjoyable and highly diverse holiday. No matter what your
interests, this dive centre strives to ensure that their
services meet with the highest possible standards.
Diving
with Reef 2000
For the qualified diver, we offer the opportunity to
enjoy world-class dive sites. These include the famous
Canyon
and
Blue
Hole, together with an abundance of coral gardens
& sheer drop-offs which are home to a kaleidoscope of
shimmering reef fish. There are few boats in Dahab, meaning
less crowds at dive sites. All sites are accessible by
4-wheel drive or Bedouin pick-up trucks.
For the more adventurous, we offer Advanced
Nitrox
Enriched Air diving - maybe take a couple of dives on the
SS
Thistlegorm which is considered to be one of the
worlds premiere wreck dives. Sunk by a German torpedo in
1941, the wreck carries a train, trucks, jeeps, BSA
motorbikes, aircraft wings, tools and rifles and is now
bustling with marine life and is virtually covered with hard
and soft corals, attracting large schools of fish of all
shapes, sizes and colours.
Diving
Camel
Safaris are a speciality unique to Dahab and are are
an experience not to be missed. Alternatively, you can join
a local boat safari to the remote untouched areas south of
Dahab. The only dive boat in Dahab makes for uncrowded
diving on the southern virgin reefs of
Gabr
El Bint and Shahira. |
