Itinerary
Day 1: London to Amsterdam: A warm welcome from your
Contiki Crew as we head for the White Cliffs of Dover and
the Channel crossing to France. We travel through Belgium
and into The Netherlands. After dinner a chance to explore
this unique city and its amazing nightlife. (D)
Day 2: Amsterdam Sightseeing: Visit the cheese
village of Edam on a bicycle tour of the Dutch countryside.
Uncover another facet of Dutch culture with a visit to a
diamond exhibition and spend your free time wandering along
the canals, shopping or visiting famous museums such as the
Van Gogh Musuem and Anne Frank’s House. (B)
Day 3: Amsterdam to Berlin.: This morning we head
east and continue to Berlin, the cultural capital city of
Germany. You'll have your first glimpse the Berlin Wall and
maybe sample the great nightlife of this vibrant city. (B,D)
Day 4: Berlin Sightseeing: A full day's sight-seeing
including the remains of the Berlin Wall, the Russian War
Memorial and the Brandenburg Gate. An opportunity to visit
the "Checkpoint Charlie" museum. Tonight, why not head for
town, mix with the locals and try some traditional fare. (B)
Day 5: Berlin to Prague: Driving south through
Germany we head into the Czech Republic for two nights in
Prague, the golden city built on Seven Hills across the
River Vltava. (B,D)
Day 6: Prague Sightseeing: This morning’s sightseeing
tour includes Hradcany Castle, the Cathedral of St Vitus and
Wenceslas Square. Then time to explore the Jewish Quarter.

Day 7: Prague to Munich: We skip back to Germany and
Bavaria’s lively capital Munich ; home to the Oktoberfest.
Enjoy some of the sights and sounds of the city and perhaps
experience the atmosphere of a local beerhall. (B,D)
Day 8: Munich Sightseeing: See the sights on our city
tour, including the town hall with its famous Glockenspiel.
Explore the shops on Marienplatz or perhaps visit one of the
city's many museums. (B)
Day 9: Munich to Venice: Today we travel south
through Austria and the astonishing beauty of the Brenner
Pass to cross the border into Italy. Tonight we stay on the
mainland of Venice. (B,D)
Day 10: Venice Sightseeing: A short boat ride takes
us into the historical centre of Venice to see St Mark’s
Square, the Bridge of Sighs and the Doges’ Palace. Ample
time to wander the bustling streets, see the skill required
to create local crafts such as Venetian glass and fine lace
and visit one of the many amazing musuems. Why not treat
yourself to a gondola ride and evening meal with your fellow
travellers as a perfect end to your Venetian experience? (B)
Day 11: Venice to Rome: Past medieval hillside
villages and through the Appennine Mountains, we travel
south to the fabled Seven Hills of Rome. Do as the Romans do
and stroll past the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and Piazza
Navona. Later be delighted by your first glimpse of the
Colosseum on our sightseeing tour. (B)
Day 12: Rome Sightseeing: Ancient and modern Rome
awaits your discovery. Why not start your day with a guided
tour of the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel? In your free
time explore the Forum of Imperial Rome, search for
Gladiators at the Colosseum, snap up Italian fashions or
just watch the world go by with a gelato (or two). (B)
Day 13: Rome to Florence: Our morning drive leads us
to Florence, the Renaissance city in the beautiful mountain
folds of Tuscany. Learn about the Duomo, Giotto’s
Bell-Tower, Piazza della Signoria and Santa Croce as our
expert local guide walks us through the city. (B,D)
Day 14: Florence Sightseeing: Your day includes a
walking tour seeing the Piazza della Signoria, the Duomo and
Santa Croce and a chance to shop for leather, gold and
silver. In your free time maybe visit one of the city’s many
museums or galleries and this evening enjoy the colourful
Florentine nightlife. (B)
Day 15: Florence to Lucerne: Our path takes us toward
the towering Alps and the vast serene lakes of Switzerland.
Be charmed by medieval Lucerne with its Chapel Bridge, Lion
monument and plentiful shopping opportunities. (B,D)
Day 16: Lucerne Sightseeing: Spend the day exploring
this beautiful lakeside town. See the Lion Monument, walk
across the Chapel Bridge and wander the cobbled streets
shopping for watches, chocolate and Swiss Army knives. The
best way to appreciate the spectacular scenery is on a lake
cruise ; why not join us on one this afternoon? (B)
Day 17: Lucerne to Paris: Our focus today is the
journey to Paris, the "City of Lights". What better
introduction than with our sightseeing tour and your first
glimpse of the Eiffel Tower? (B,D)
Day 18: Paris Sightseeing: Today's sightseeing
includes some of the most celebrated icons of Europe.
Perhaps take the opportunity to visit the Louvre, Eiffel
Tower, Notre Dame, Arc de Triomphe or the Champs Elysées.
Tonight, why not complete your Parisian experience with a
French meal and a famous Parisian cabaret? (B)
Day 19: Paris to London: We visit the Canadian War
Memorial at Vimy Ridge on the way to our cross-channel ferry
back to England. Time to swap addresses and say goodbye as
we arrive early evening in London. (B) |
