Day 1
Rendezvous day in St Petersburg – our free pick-up
service operates all day, whether you’ve arrived at dawn off
a night-train or the last flight at night.
Day 2
After breakfast, take a Walking Tour around town, and
get an insider’s view from our all-local Beetroot Buddy
staff. Lunch downtown is your own deal, with a free
afternoon & evening. Maybe see the Palaces, take a canalboat
ride, go to a folklore show?
Day 3
Breakfast. Morning trip to the Hermitage* Collection – own lunch
and free afternoon, stroll along Nevsky Prospekt, or perhaps
go out to Petrodvorets Palace?
Day 4
Morning visit to the Peter & Paul Fortress* where the
Revolutionaries were imprisoned, and see the Tombs Of The
Tsars. After a lunch-break, depart to Novgorod (4 hrs
driving) – arriving late afternoon. Hotel check-in and a
free evening in Russia’s oldest city!
Day 5
Walking Tour of medieval Novgorod, where the Russian State
was founded in 862 ad. See the ancient Kremlin* – yes, there
is one here too. After a lunch break, there’s an excursion
to the Museum of Village Life – an open-air collection of
amazing old buildings. Free evening – maybe have supper in a
medieval restaurant, or take a disco-cruise on a riverboat?
Day 6
Breakfast, then depart to Vyshney Volochek (4.5 hrs driving)
and arrive at Lake Mets Forest Camp. Chill-out Russian-style
– walk in the forest, gather berries, have a Russian banya
(sauna), have a swim, take a rowing-boat – this is how
Russians love to relax themselves! Evening – barbeque
campfire supper.
Day 7
Hit the road for Moscow (4-5 hrs drive – heavily
traffic-dependant!). We’ll make a lunch-stop on the way,
passing by Russian small towns and little wooden villages –
until finally we hit the big city. Hotel check-in.
Day 8
See the sights the tour-buses miss, and get the skinny on
Moscow from an insider, on a Walking Tour of Moscow. Plenty
of free time today to explore the capital on your own –
maybe stroll the Arbat’s stalls and hokum antiques.
Day 9
We help you get ticket for the Moscow Kremlin* this morning
– so you can look around for yourselves! No it’s not a
nuclear bunker or a spy centre It’s Moscow’s C16-17th
citadel Your last full day in Russia, so catch the sights,
visit the museums, buy all those stacking dolls and Lenin
t-shirts, before the bars and clubs beckon you this evening…
the only question is will your adrenalin levels meet the
challenge?!
*No activities on Beetroot are compulsory-you buy
only the tickets you want, at local face value prices.
