Itinerary
Day 01:
Arrival in St. Petersburg, with our usual guarantee to
meet any flight, train or boat.
Day 02:
Breakfast. Meet- up with your St Pete’s Buddy, Morning
sightseeing walk around St Petersburg – Nevsky Prospekt (the
city’s main avenue), Griboyedov Canal, Church on the Spilt
Blood, Admiralty, St Isaac’s and more! Afternoon free to
explore some more. Evening free
Day 03:
Breakfast. Come along to the Hermitage Collection – one
of the world’s most famous art-collections – on view within
the Winter Palace, the former Royal Palace. Free afternoon
to explore – maybe take a boat trip along the rivers and
canals of the city they call the “Northern Venice”?
Afternoon and evening free.
Day 04:
Breakfast. Check out of your rooms. Free-time, early
afternoon transfer to station for departure to Ekaterinburg.
We take the Demidoff Express to Ekaterinburg overnight on
board.
Day 05:
On board the Demidoff Express through the Ural
Mountains, maybe meet your Russian co-passengers in the
Dining Car and admire the broad open landscapes over a beer?
Overnight on board.
Day 06:
Morning arrival in Ekaterinburg, transfer to your Hotel.
A chance to freshen-up before a City Tour, which includes a
visit to the Urals Mineralogical Museum – the fantastic
gemstones that made the city rich. Lunch – your own deal
(you have to try McPeaks!) This afternoon we visit The
Monastery of The Romanov Family, now marking the spot where
the Revolutionaries hid the murdered bodies of the Royal
Family. Step into Asia – we pass the continent border-marker
on our way! Free evening.
Day 07:
Breakfast. Fancy a quick trip to Siberia? The official
Siberian border is only 140km Eastwards, we take you to
Koptelovo Village (under an official Preservation Order) for
a fascinating insight into life in the old Russian villages
– led in person by Lonely Planet-recommend local expert
Konstantin Brylyakov. Get a taste of Siberia – home-cooked
for you, in a special lunch in the village. Evening return to Ekaterinburg – which has legendarily wild
nightclubs (hint!).
Day 08:
Early breakfast, our train leaves at 8am... time
on-board later to catch-up on extra zz’s! All aboard... We
take the Ural Express to Moscow – following the
Trans-Siberian Railway! Overnight on board in cosy
four-berth sleeper compartments.
Day 09:
Breakfast time arrival in Moscow & transfer to your
hotel.
Sightseeing walk of Moscow – Red Square, Arbat Street, and
all the famous sights. This afternoon’s your own to explore
Moscow further – Why not visit the Kremlin - We will help
you get your tickets. Evening at
your leisure.
Day 10:
Breakfast. Today why not take a sneak-peek at the KGB HQ – we help you get your
tickets. Afternoon – free time to mosey more of Moscow...
and there’s so much to see! Evening at your leisure.
Day 11:
It’s all over so soon – but you still have a last chance to
swap email addresses with your new friends, since we run a
free shuttle service to the airport today (you’re welcome to
stay longer... we have extra night prices, but transfer to
the airport is not included after them)
* We assist you with obtaining entry to the Kremlin. Tickets
purchased locally approx. US$15 - US$18.
*No activities on Beetroot are compulsory-you buy only the
tickets you want, at local face prices – leaving you in
control of your spending & time!
