| A great place
in winter, for all levels of skiers and snowboarders.
Well-groomed runs combined with the informal and friendly
atmosphere of our village make Hopfgarten the perfect Ski
destination. The whole ski area is part of the ‘Ski Welt’
circuit offering 250km of pistes with interconnecting
gondola, chair and drag lift systems to get you quickly to
any area of the mountain. Beginners in ski or
snowboarding will want to take advantage of the local
beginners’ lift pass, including Hopfgarten, Itter and
Kelchsau. Gentle nursery slopes in the heart of Hopfgarten
(perfect for beginners) are made easy with patient
instructors who will soon have you motoring through the
trees from “middle station” and up on to the more advanced
slopes in no time at all. You can upgrade your beginners’
lift pass to one that covers the entire ‘Ski Welt’ region.
Flexibility is the key!
Intermediates and Advanced skiers or snowboarders
will want to take advantage of the whole ‘Ski Welt’ ski area
including the 7km descent to the village. You may also like
to go out with a local, experienced ski guide, in a group or
on your own, to really discover the hidden mountain (bookable
when you are in resort).
Tobogganing
Whether it’s Hopfgarten, Itter or Kelchsau - a winter
holiday is just not complete without an evening on a
toboggan run. Take the last lift up the mountain, stop off
for a winter warmer, and off you go!
Sleigh Ride
A magical journey through the forested Penningberg on a
genuine ‘two-horse open sleigh.’ There’s even time to relax
at a mountain Gasthof to ‘jingle those bells.’
Tandem Paragliding
For the more adventurous why not fly off a mountain - of
course, in tandem with your own fully qualified pilot! An
exhiliarating experience with unparelleled views.
Ice skating
Why not try your hand at the traditional winter sport of ice
skating on a frozen alpine lake? Afterwards you can enjoy
some typical Austrian cuisine in the mountain restaurant.
Kitzbuhel
Known as the Monte Carlo of the Tyrol, this historic town is
home of the famous Hahnenkamm Ski Race. The city is also
renouned for its gastronomic delights, the city's numerous
beer cellers, as well as its apres ski.
