Itinerary
Day 1 Kampala – Kisoro:
An early start sees us heading southwest to Gorilla country.
Sir Winston Churchill named Uganda “The Pearl of Africa” and
never a truer word has been spoken about this beautiful
country. The scenery is green and the people are extremely
hospitable. The landscape varies from fertile green areas to
snow covered Ruwenzori Mountains in the west to semi-desert
parts in the north. Overnight Kisoro, Hotel (L,D)
Day 2 Kisoro:
Crossing over into the DRC in the early morn and after a
briefing by our park rangers we head off in search of these
magnificent gentle giants, the mountain gorilla*. The time
to trek and find the gorillas can be long and tiring,
although once in their presence the effort is more than
worth it. The mountain gorilla (Gorilla Gorilla Berengei) is
one of our closest living relatives and it is thought that
only about 600 still exist! Late afternoon sees us cross
over back into Uganda. The experience of trekking the
gorillas is one of the greatest highlights that anyone can
have in Africa. Try it and we believe that you will agree.
Overnight Kisoro, Hotel (B,L,D)
Day 3 Kisoro – Lake Bunyoni:
A leisurely day sees us make our way to Lake Bunyoni, where
you can relax, swim, windsurf or go cray fishing. Overnight
Lake Bunyoni, Banda’s (B,L,D)
Day 4 Lake Bunyoni:
Again a day of rest or for the more active you can trek in
the hilly agricultural land which surrounds the lake or take
a boat trip to one of the local village markets, which are a
regular occurrence around the lake shore. Overnight Lake
Bunyoni, Banda’s (B,L,D)
Day 5 Lake Bunyoni – Kampala:
Heading in a north-easterly direction we make our way back to
Kampala where the trip comes to an end. (B)
