 15 Days Western Wildflower Wonderland

Bring your senses to life by discovering wildflowers of WA's south-west. Witness the natural wonder of Wave Rock, sample the wines of Margaret River and experience the wildlife encounters of Monkey Mia’s bottlenose dolphins and Shark Bay’s mystical dugong or ‘sea cow’.

Day 1 Sun. Perth, Karakamia Wildlife Sanctuary, Welcome Dinner.

Welcome to Perth! On arrival, join a tour of the city. Exclusive to APT, experience the Karakamia Wildlife Sanctuary - managed by the Australian Wildlife Conservancy and proudly supported by APT. Enjoy a dusk nature walk and our Welcome Dinner amid the Jarrah woodlands and granitic heaths of this stunning region. Keep an eye out for the endangered species that populate this beautiful haven - including the numbat and the Tammar wallaby.

Day 2 Mon. Historic York, Wildflower Farm, Wave Rock.
Cross the Darling Ranges to historic York, classified by the National Trust, for a tour with a local guide. Discover the floral extravaganza at a local wildflower farm (Sept.-Oct.), before travelling to the quaint Outback town of Hyden. Explore the natural wonder of Wave Rock, rising 15 metres high. This rock formation appears ready to crash onto a prehistoric surf, now frozen in time.

Day 3 Tue. Coolgardie, Freedom of Choice Touring, Kalgoorlie.
Journey through the wheatbelt to Coolgardie, the original site of Western Australia’s goldrush. Participate in our Freedom of Choice Touring at no extra cost. Visit the Gold Museum or the fascinating Pharmacy Museum. On to Kalgoorlie, known as the City of Gold, producing more than half of the gold mined in Australia. Travel Kalgoorlie’s Golden Mile, reputed to be the richest square mile in the world and admire the town’s interesting architecture.
Stay: Kalgoorlie, All Seasons Plaza Hotel, right in the town centre.

Day 4 Wed. Kalgoorlie, Freedom of Choice Touring, Lake Lefroy, Esperance.
In Kalgoorlie, enjoy one of our Freedom of Choice Touring activities. Visit the Mining Hall of Fame, take an underground tour at Hannans North Goldmine or try your luck panning for gold. View magnificent Lake Lefroy where the pure white salt makes for a striking contrast against the bright blue sky and surrounding scrub land. On to the seaside town of Esperance.
Stay: Esperance, Bay of Isles Motel.

Day 5 Thur. Pink Lake, Historic Albany, Meet Local Wildflower Expert.
Take in the sights of Esperance, including Twilight Bay and the unique Pink Lake. Drive on through the Stirling Ranges and meet a local wildflower expert. From Bluff Knoll, see the jagged peaks towering over bushland that is carpeted with wildflowers in spring. Arrive in historic Albany this afternoon.
Two Night Stay: Albany, Dog Rock Hotel.

Day 6 Fri. Albany, Freedom of Choice Touring.
This morning participate in our Freedom of Choice Touring in Albany. Choose to visit the Mt Romance Bodycare Factory or board a catamaran and cruise Albany’s harbour on a whale watching cruise. Underwater microphones help you listen for the song of humpback whales. This afternoon, tour Whale World at Cheyne’s Beach.

Day 7 Sat. Valley of the Giants, Pemberton, Freedom of Choice Touring, Margaret River.
Experience the beauty of the Valley of the Giants with Freedom of Choice. Choose the Tree Top Walk to explore the magnificent Tingle forest at canopy level or admire the Tingles at ground level following a boardwalk through the Ancient Empire, with tree bases spanning up to 16 metres. For the more adventurous, climb the highest fire lookout in the world at the Gloucester Tree, 60 metres above the forest. Later, join a local guide on the Pemberton Tramway. Then drive to Margaret River.
Two Night Stay: Margaret River, All Seasons Hotel. Enjoy a pre-dinner wine presentation.

Day 8 Sun. Margaret River, Freedom of Choice Touring.
Today tour the sights of Margaret River, exploring the limestone formations of Jewel Cave and driving the magnificent coastline of Cape Leeuwin. The region’s famous wineries are next, including the award-winning Leeuwin and Voyager estates. Alternatively, join a canoeing adventure on the Margaret River followed by a bush morning tea.

Day 9 Mon. Fremantle, Freedom of Choice Touring, Dine Around Dinner.
Follow the stunning coastline to the historic port of Fremantle for our Freedom of Choice Touring. Choose to visit the Western Australian Maritime Museum or the Fremantle Motor Museum. In the afternoon, discover Fremantle. Tonight you have the option to dine at the Atrium Garden Restaurant or taste the local produce at Café Panache.
Stay: Fremantle, The Esplanade Hotel.

Day 10 Tue. Perth, Freedom of Choice Touring, Dine Around Dinner.
Perth’s Swan River and the Indian Ocean make it a perfect setting for cruising. Take the Tram Tour and afterwards cruise back to Perth on the Swan River. Alternatively, cruise to beautiful Rottnest Island and spend the day exploring - perhaps hire a bicycle and tour the island. Or just tour Perth on the City Explorer Tram Tour. Tonight, choose from buffet-style dining or enjoy an á la carte menu.
Stay: Perth, Novotel Langley Hotel.

Day 11 Wed. New Norcia, Coomberdale Wildflower Farm, Kalbarri.
Head to New Norcia, a charming town showing the influence of Spanish Benedictine monks. Visit the Coomberdale Wildflower Farm, where thousands of flowers are prepared for export. In spring, the area is ablaze with colour. Continue to Kalbarri.
Stay: Kalbarri, Palm Resort.

Day 12 Thur. Shark Bay, Freedom of Choice Touring, Seafood Dinner.
Continue to World Heritage-listed Shark Bay. Take a special wildlife cruise in search for the dugong. Or participate in a local Aboriginal Culture walk where you will be taken to a local camp to see a traditional Aboriginal Mia-Mia (hut), tools and mapping of tribal regions (subject to availability). This evening indulge in a delicious Seafood Dinner, exclusive to APT.
Stay: Shark Bay, Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort.

Day 13 Fri. Monkey Mia Dolphins, Denham, Stromatolites, Geraldton, Dine Around Dinner.
Classic wildlife encounters continue as you experience the magic of Monkey Mia’s bottlenose dolphins (subject to appearance). Visit the nearby town of Denham and walk along Shell Beach. Stop at Hamelin Pool to view the stromatolites. Journey into the port town of Geraldton and tonight enjoy APT’s exclusive Dine Around Dinner.
Stay: APT EXCLUSIVE! Geraldton, Ocean Centre Hotel, beachfront accommodation.

Day 14 Sat. Pinnacles, Perth, Farewell Dinner.
Your drive today takes you into Nambung National Park. Wander through the ancient Pinnacles before continuing south to Perth. Enjoy a Farewell Dinner tonight.
Stay: Perth, Novotel Langley Hotel.

Day 15 Sun. Perth.
