Be welcomed on arrival to Darwin. Your first day on tour
with APT includes city sightseeing with a visit to the lush
Botanic Gardens and Fannie Bay. Tonight, enjoy a Welcome
Dinner with your fellow travellers and crew.

Day 2 Fri. Adelaide
River, Katherine Gorge Dinner Cruise.
During World War II Adelaide River was the headquarters of a
large army base. Today we travel to Adelaide River to pay
our respects at the War Cemetery, the only one on Australian
soil. Afterwards we head into Nitmiluk National Park to
enjoy a dinner cruise along Katherine Gorge with commentary
on local Aboriginal art. Continue to Katherine.

Day 3 Sat. Ord River
Wildlife Cruise, Lake Argyle, Kununurra.
Cross the border into Western Australia and enter the
Kimberley region. At Lake Argyle, join a cruise along the
Ord River through Carlton Gorge with its sheer cliffs. Be
sure not to miss this experience as it is considered to be
one of the best cruises in Australia.

The Kimberley has only three towns with a population of more
than 2,000 people. Kununurra is one of these towns and is
known as ‘Big Water’ by the local Aboriginal community.
Spend the morning at leisure and in the afternoon, take a
guided tour of the town and discover the history of this

World Heritage Purnululu National Park. Join a guide and

Questro Station.
Travel through gorge country to Wyndham, Western Australia’s
most northerly port. Enjoy breathtaking 360 degree views
from Five Rivers Lookout. Travel to the heart of the
Kimberley and visit El Questro Station, a working cattle
station with a heard of approximately 5,000 head. APT

Tour the Argyle Diamond Mine, one of the largest in the
world and responsible for one-third of the world’s supply.
Marvel at the rare pink diamonds on display. Continue onto
Halls Creek, just north of the arid Great Sandy Desert.

Day 8 Thur. Geikie
Gorge Cruise.
Cruise the mighty Fitzroy River between the two-tone cliffs
of Geikie Gorge, formed by the waters of the river
tunnelling through the Napier Range. Explore the area with a
local ranger and watch for the freshwater crocodiles,
sawfish and unique birdlife that inhabit the region.

Day 9 Fri. Windjana
Gorge, Broome.
View ancient marine fossils in the limestone walls of
Windjana Gorge, which was part of a coral reef during the
Devonian Age. This area is regarded as an important world
geology site and a great freshwater crocodile spotting
location. In Broome, enjoy the evening to relax at the
resort, with Cable Beach at your doorstep, which is renowned
for its spectacular sunsets and azure waters.

Port Hedland.
Travel through one of the most sparsely populated areas in
Australia as we skirt the Great Sandy Desert and Eighty-Mile
Beach to reach the coastal town of Port Hedland, renowned
for its turtle and whale-watching, sports fishing and
iron-ore mining.

Day 12 Mon. Marble Bar,
Newman.
Tour the town of Port Hedland, including the Cultural and
Heritage Trail. Visit Marble Bar, renowned to be the hottest
place in Australia, where for 160 consecutive days the
temperature has consistently reached over forty degrees.
Continue on to Newman for the evening, a modern, attractive
centre in the heart of the Hamersley Ranges, serving the two
huge mines at Mount Whaleback and Orebody 29.

Day 13 Tue. Guided Mine
Tour, Karijini.
At historic Newman, take a tour of the Mt Whaleback Iron Ore
Mine, the largest open-cut mining operation in the world.
Discover the striking gorges and emerald coloured rock pools
of Karijini (Hamersley Range) National Park, where sheer
walls of coloured rock and ever-changing colours create a
striking landscape. Stop at Dale and Fortescue falls and
Joffre Gorge for awe-inspiring views. Spectacular gorges,
waterfalls and rock pools provide refreshing scenery
compared to the red Pilbara terrain.

Day 14 Wed. Hamersley
Gorge, Pilbara, Millstream-Chichester National Park.
An area of contrast and beauty and the traditional home of
the Yinjibarndi Aboriginal people. Stroll among the palms,
ferns and lilies. View Hamersley Gorge with its striations
and waterfalls. Travel to Karratha – the Pilbara capital.

Day 15 Thur. Karratha,
Exmouth.
Tour the North West Shelf Visitors Centre, view Red Dog
Monument and the Saltworks at Dampier. Cross the rugged
ranges to the maritime park of Exmouth. This afternoon,
visit Vlaming Head for coastal views of the north west cape
with some spectacular photo opportunities.

Day 16 Fri. Coral Bay,
Ningaloo Marine Park.
Travel to Coral Bay, gateway to the pristine Ningaloo Reef
Marine Park. The virtually untouched barrier reef system
stretches 260 kilometres in length protecting a shallow,
brilliant white sandy lagoon of clear tropical waters.
Cruise along Ningaloo Reef in a glass bottom boat where
there are more than 500 species of tropical fish and 220
species of coral in this protected marine park.

Day 17 Sat. Shark Bay
World Heritage Area, Freedom of Choice Touring, Seafood
Dinner.
Choose to cruise Shark Bay in search of the dugong, a
relative of the walrus, and believed to have inspired the
myth of the mermaid. The largest population of this mystical
creature exists in Shark Bay, with over 10,000 dugongs
feeding from the vast seagrass beds. Alternatively, learn
about local Aboriginal tribes on a cultural walking
experience with a guide. This evening spoil yourself and
enjoy a mouth watering seafood dinner.

Wild Dolphins, Dine Around Dinner.
Interact with wild bottle-nosed dolphins as they come close
to shore (subject to appearance). Visit Shell Beach, one of
two worldwide, consisting of billions of tiny shells and
stretching for over one-hundred kilometres in length.
Another great photo opportunity! View the world’s oldest
organisms at Hamelin Pool. The Stromatolites are living
evidence of primitive life that first existed on earth 3.5
billion years ago. The dome shaped structures reach up to 60
centimetres in height and are formed by single celled
organisms called cyanobacteria. Onwards to Geraldton, enjoy

Day 19 Mon. Pinnacles,
Perth.
In Nambung National Park, explore among the eerie Pinnacles
– one of Australia’s best known landscapes and a favourite
subject for photographers. Stroll through the thousands of
limestone pillars rising up to six metres out of the yellow
sands, creating a scene from a science-fiction film.

Take a tram tour of Fremantle, made famous by the America’s
Cup and spend the day wandering the port town, then cruise

delicious Farewell Dinner with your new friends.

Kings Park.
This morning enjoy a tour of Perth. Take in city views from
Kings Park – 400 hectares of unspoilt bushland and
