14 Days   Los Angeles to Los Angeles

Visit fashionable Palm Springs, exciting Las Vegas and the awesome Grand Canyon before driving through the desert to the beautiful city of San Francisco.Then it’s along the famous California coast through Santa Barbara back to Los Angeles.

Day 1 Los Angeles
Upon arrival in Los Angeles collect your Alamo car and drive to your hotel. Overnight: Holiday Inn LAX.

Day 2 Los Angeles - Palm Springs
After meeting your AmericanTours representative who will give you your welcome kits it’s time to hit the road for Palm Springs. Overnight: Best Western Inn.

Day 3 Palm Springs - Phoenix/Scottsdale
(267 miles) Time this morning to shop in the exclusive shops and boutiques of Palm Springs before driving to Scottsdale and Phoenix. Phoenix is one of the fastest growing towns in the USA partly due to its dry climate and many days of sunshine. Overnight: Days Inn Scottsdale Fashion District.

Day 4 Phoenix - Grand Canyon National Park
(230 miles) Set off early this morning to arrive in good time to stroll along the South Rim and experience the majestic beauty of the canyon. Overnight: The Grand Hotel.

Day 5 Grand Canyon National Park - Las Vegas
(276 miles) Drive through Williams and Kingman to one of the world’s greatest manmade structures, the Hoover Dam. Continue on to Las Vegas, the glittering entertainment capital of the world. Overnight: Imperial Palace (2 nights).

Day 6 Las Vegas
A full day to experience more of Las Vegas perhaps taking in one of the many shows that are on offer.

Day 7 Las Vegas - Death Valley National Park
(139 miles) Drive across the Amargosa Desert to Death Valley National Park; stop at Zabriskie point for a panoramic view of the valley. Overnight: Furnace Creek Ranch.

Day 8 Death Valley National Park - Yosemite National Park
(326 miles) Today travel to Yosemite National Park, one of America’s most scenic parks. View Yosemite and Bridalveil Falls and the huge granite formations of El Capitan and Half Dome. Overnight: Best Western Yosemite Way.

Day 9 Yosemite National Park - San Francisco
(195 miles) Drive across the state of California to one of America’s favourite cities, San Francisco. Visit Union Square, Golden Gate Park and of course, Fisherman’s Wharf. Overnight: Holiday Inn Civic Centre (2 nights).

Day 10 San Francisco
A full day to explore more of the city or alternatively take a ride out to California’s Wine Country, the Napa Valley.

Day 11 San Francisco - Monterey
(130 miles) Drive south to Monterey and visit Cannery Row, which was immortalised by John Steinbeck. Enjoy the scenic 17-mile coastal drive and historic Carmel. Overnight: Travelodge Downtown.

Day 12 Monterey - Santa Barbara/Oxnard
(230 miles) Continue your journey south through Pismo Beach, Santa Maria and Santa Barbara. Overnight: Vagabond Inn Oxnard.

Day 13 Oxnard - Santa Monica - Los Angeles
(70 miles) Travel through Malibu and Santa Monica en route to Los Angeles. Why not drive through Beverly Hills and Hollywood and maybe take in Universal Studios. Overnight: Holiday Inn Lax.

Day 14 Los Angeles
Return your hire car at the airport before catching your onward flight.
