3 Day Batang Ai Safari

The beautiful Batang Ai National Park is home to protected wildlife in the water catchment area to Sarawak’s only artificial lake. Another major attraction upriver is the Iban longhouses. Here it's possible to experience the authentic longhouse atmosphere as most of the longhouse dwellers still practise their traditional lifestyle.

Day 1 Kuching to Batang Ai
Depart Kuching by air conditioned van/coach for the Hilton Batang Ai Resort (journey time approx. 166 miles). En route you’ll pass through scenic countryside of quaint little towns, villages, padi fields and plantations. Arrive at the bank of the Batang Ai Hydro Lake where a shuttle ferry will take you to the resort on the southern bank. Short nature walk in the evening.

Day 2 Batang Ai
Depart by longboat to Sepayah longhouse for a guided tour of this communal longhouse, where approximately 18 families of the Iban tribe live under one roof. It is literally a whole village on stilts by the river bank, amidst the jungle. Observe the weaving and hand-crafting skills of the Ibans, a short performance and a blow pipe demonstration. Lunch served at a waterfall (includes 10 minutes trekking – bring your swimsuit!).

Day 3 Batang Ai to Kuching
After breakfast return to Kuching to complete your tour.
