Visa requirements: UK passport holders require a visa to visit Egypt. At time of printing this can be obtained on arrival, however this can change. For current visa requirements please check with the Egyptian consulate on 020 7235 9777 or visit www.egyptianconsulate.co.uk.
Travelmood also offers a full visa service where you can download the Egyptian visa application and for a small fee have your visa processed in advance of travel. This service is available online at www.travelmood.com/visa
Passports: A valid 10-year passport is required. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your return to the UK.
Vaccinations: Whilst no vaccinations are required to gain entry into Egypt for arrival from the UK it is strongly recommended that you check with your doctor for recommended vaccinations.
Tipping: 'Bakchich' is not only widespread in Egypt, but it is a veritable institution. Anyone offering a service, however small, expects a tip in return so it is handy to always keep some low denomination notes to hand.
Currency & Cash: The
National currency is the Egyptian pound. You will find
ATM cash machines in large towns and cities such as
Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and the Red Sea. Additionally many
hotels and resorts also provide ATM cash machines.
Credit cards are accepted in the lager hotels and
boutiques. Most tourist shops accept foreign currency
particularly US Dollars and Pounds Sterling.
