Victoria Visitor Information
Why should I visit South Australia now?
Why should I visit Victoria now?
Renowned for its sense of style and elegance, Melbourne boasts glamorous festivals, a
passion for eating and drinking, and a flourishing interest in the arts. Outside
Melbourne, you’ll find a host of regional attractions, from Phillip Island with its famous
Little Penguins to the spectacular Great Ocean Road.
Airport Information
Melbourne Airport is located 13 miles from the centre of Melbourne. Journey time is
around 35 minutes. Buses run every 15 minutes throughout the day, while taxis are
available from the ground floor level of the Airport ($37). Travelmood can pre-book a
transfer for you from £10 per person each way.
When should I go?
Victoria enjoys four distinct seasons. Summer (December to February) has plenty of
warm, sunny days (around 26°c), though the weather can be changeable so bring a
jacket just in case. Spring (September to November) is fresh and invigorating, and
autumn (March to May) is a superb time to visit with the changing leaves and
moderating temperatures. Winter (June to August) can be cold - alpine snowfields are
just three hours from Melbourne by car, a perfect opportunity to enjoy some skiing.
What should I do on a shorter itinerary?
Our
4 Day Melbourne Hot Deal is perfect for a short stay in Victoria. It includes
one of the state’s iconic sights: the dramatic scenery of the Great Ocean Road, one of the
world’s great coastal drives. Alternatively try a
3 Day Phillip Island and Mornington
Peninsula Self Drive to see the famous Little Penguins.
And a longer one?
Combine a few nights in cosmopolitan Melbourne with the 6 Day
Best of Victoria Self
Drive . In Melbourne we highly recommend the
sunrise balloon flight
over the city . There are few cities in the world where you can experience this!
The Best of Victoria journey includes the chance to sample world class wines in the Yarra Valley, a stay in a small goldfield town (population 23!) and the relaxing seaside
resorts of Phillip Island and Mornington Peninsula.
