Western Australia Visitor Information
Why should I visit Western Australia now?
If you’re in search of a holiday destination that’s unspoilt and full of adventure, then
Western Australia is it. Perth, the capital, offers a relaxed lifestyle and natural
parklands, sandy beaches and the sparking Swan River. Nearby are some very
successful vineyards with award-winning wines.
To the north lies a State full of
adventure; swim with whale sharks at Coral Bay or drive a 4WD through spectacular
gorge scenery in the Kimberley.
Airport Information
Perth Airport is located 7.5 miles north-east of Perth city centre. Journey time by taxi
($25) is around 20 minutes. There is also a regular shuttle bus service to and from the
airport. Travelmood can pre-book a transfer from the airport to your Perth
accommodation from £9 per person each way.
When should I go?
Perth has four seasons, with average temperatures of around 30°c in summer (January
to March) and around 18°c in winter (June to August). January to March are the hottest
months, with temperatures sometimes rising to 40°c. However the heat is dry and the
‘Fremantle Doctor’ - a refreshing south-westerly ocean breeze - can be relied upon to
bring mid-afternoon relief. Broome in the north-west offers warm sunny days, balmy
nights and spectacular storms during the tropical summer. There are two seasons; the
‘cooler’ months of April to October bring rainless, balmy days while November to March
bask in higher temperatures and monsoonal rains.
What should I do on a shorter itinerary?
Explore the picturesque south-western corner of WA on a
6 Day Best of the South West
Self Drive. Driving distances are relatively short and you’ll get to see
some gorgeous beaches and vineyards offering top quality wine tasting.
And a longer one?
Combine a stay in Perth on our
4 Day Perth Hot Deal with time time in the
spectacular Kimberley region. Your Travelmood can arrange your flight from Perth to
Broome. Take the
9 Day Best of the North West Self Drive - a thrilling
4WD adventure along the Gibb River Road from Broome to Darwin. Along the way you’ll
experience magnificent outback scenery including gorges, waterholes and rugged
mountain ranges.
