Day 1 Bangkok - Ayutthaya - Lopburi - Phitsanuloke (L)
The outing begins in Bangkok with an early departure, stopping first at Bang Pa In, the former home of the kings of Ayutthaya, dating back to the eighteenth-century and the Royal Palace which is situated amongst beautiful, extensive park grounds in an exotic combination of Thai and European architecture. Particularly pleasing is the Thai pavilion built in the middle of a lake and the Chinese-style palace Vihat Chamrun. This step back in time continues to Ayutthaya, the capital of Siam from 1350 to 1767 and home to historic temples such as Wat Srisanpetch, Wat Yai Chai Mongkol and other beautiful temples at Wat Chai Watthanaram. The next stop is Lopburi and a visit to Phra Prang Sam Yod, a temple with three towers and impressive ornaments as well as a shrine of the Hindu Goddess Kali at the Sarn Prakarn Temple, followed by lunch at a local restaurant before continuing on to Phitsanuloke for stay at the Topland Hotel (or similar).

Day 2 Phitsanuloke – Sukothai – Chiang Rai (B, L)
The day begins with breakfast at the hotel and the trip continues on to Sukhothai, the first capital of the Thai Kingdom, dating back to the 13th Century. Considered one of Asia’s most important historical destinations, Old Sukhothai is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, thus making it a must-see stop for all travellers. After visiting the temples Wat Sra Sri and Wat Sri Chim, the excursion continues to Sri Satchanalai, the former sister town of Sukhothai. After a brief lunch and a visit to some of the city’s most interesting temples and ancient ruins, the day continues with a drive north to Chiang Rai and accommodation at the Wiang Inn Hotel (or similar) for 2 nights.

Day 3 Chiang Rai (B, L)
Day three of this fascinating tour begins with breakfast at the hotel followed by face to face encounters with the exotic Akha and Yao hill tribes of Northern Thailand and the villages they live in. On the way, guests can observe beautiful landscapes and spectacular views as they travel along the narrow hilly roads towards this fascinating destination. From there they continue to Mae Sai, the most Northern town in Thailand, situated on the Burmese border. After lunch, visitors will continue to the centre of the infamous “Golden Triangle,” the meeting point of Burma, Laos and Thailand (an optional boat ride on the Mekong River is available to travellers who want to further explore the border territory). A visit to the old Opium House is the next stop before continuing to the provincial town of Chiang Saen, also located on the scenic borders of the Mekong.

Day 4 Chiang Rai - Chiang Mai (B, L, D)
Once again, breakfast will be served at the hotel before setting out on another day’s worth of adventures. The first stop is Mae Ka Chan, a city famed for its hot springs before continuing through scenic hillsides and jungles to the “Rose of the North,” Chiang Mai, a place where locals are proud of the city's 700-year history. Upon arriving in the city and having lunch at a local restaurant, drive to the mountain temple Wat Phra Dhat Doi Suthep before continuing to the Chiang Mai Plaza Hotel (or similar) for 2 nights. After settling in, you will be treated to a traditional ‘Kantoke’ dinner (which includes a typical Thai dinner from the region) while being entertained by elegant Thai dancers.

Day 5 Chiang Mai (B, L)
Steeped in a rich traditional heritage and unique culture, a trip to Chiang Mai is an essential part of any travel itinerary in Thailand. This day begins with breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a full day of activities including a trip to an elephant camp in early morning, where visitors will see these majestic beasts at work (with the option to take a ride on one). Next up is a visit to the Orchid and Butterfly Farm right before lunch.

Day 6 Departure from Chiang Mai (B)
This memorable trip concludes with breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the Chiang Mai Airport for departure.
