Tiger Tiger
7 days hotels - Tiger Tracking!
One of life's most rewarding experiences is to see the magnificent
Bengal Tiger in the wild. Our 7 day trip combines Ranthambore National
Park with time at the start and end in Delhi. To maximise our time on
this short break we use the efficient railway service from Delhi to Ranthambore.
Tiger Tracking in Ranthambore
After a leisurely first afternoon in
Delhi we board the "Golden Temple Mail" the following morning, which
whisks us through the countryside to arrive at our base on the
outskirts of Ranthambore National Park (no accommodation is permitted
within the park), and set off in the afternoon for our first safari.
Ranthambore National Park is one of the finest tiger reserves in India
and has long been under the protection of the Tiger Project scheme. It
is one of the best places in the world to photograph tigers as sightings
are reported almost daily even during daylight hours (unlike other
reserves) - to maximise our chance we include 4 visits to the National
Park. Tigers aside, the park contains the last remnants of Central
India's native forest which provides a habitat for sambar deer, leopard,
crocodile, sloth bear and over 300 species of birds. We also include a
visit to the abandoned but still awesome Ranthambore Fort, located within
the park high above Jogi Mahal.
Exploring Delhi
We return to Delhi and explore both parts
of the city. In New Delhi we'll find tree-lined boulevards, spacious
parks and fountains, then head into Old Delhi and explore the chaotic
huddle of streets on foot and by cycle rickshaw. Here we'll experience
Jami Masjid, India's most beautiful mosque and the bustling Chandni Chawk.
