Mountain and Island Adventure - 15 days

Calgary to Vancouver

An inviting itinerary revealing the best of Canada’s western cities and resorts, designed for those lured by adventure and the benefits of smaller group size. Travel on a small touring coach at a leisurely pace with routing that eliminates long drive times between destinations. Day 1 Calgary

Upon arrival in Calgary make your own way to your centrally located hotel; your tour/driver guide will contact you in the late afternoon to give you further details. Overnight: International Hotel of Calgary or similar.

Day 2 Calgary – Banff

We begin the day with a city tour of Calgary that show cases the city’s most popular landmarks. Leaving the city we travel along the Trans-Canada Highway to Banff National Park. Overnight: (2 nights) Brewster’s Mountain Lodge.


Day 3 Banff

Free choice today (you choose the activity that best suits you): take an exciting 4-hour white water paddle raft on the Kananaskis River accompanied by a professional river guide. Alternatively explore the Canadian Rockies on horseback and ride the trail on Sulphur Mountain. The remainder of the day is at leisure to stroll through the town and browse in the local shops.

Day 4 Banff – Jasper

Shortly after leaving Banff we visit the famous scenery of Lake Louise, one of the most photographed places in Canada. We then travel north to the Columbia Icefield and board an Ice Explorer to ride on the surface of the ancient Athabasca Glacier. Once in Jasper we’ll enjoy an orientation tour of the town. Overnight: Marmot Lodge or similar.

Day 5 Jasper – 108 Mile House

Departing Jasper via the Yellowhead Highway we will enjoy wonderful views of Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Rockies. Continuing south along the Thomson River we make a stop at Wells Creek Provincial Park to see Helmcken Falls and have lunch at the Wells Creek Guest Ranch. Overnight (2 nights): Hills Health & Guest Ranch.

Day 6 108 Mile House

We spend the day at the Hills Health & Guest Ranch; an award-winning resort nestled on a ranch land plateau that offers a full range of spa and fitness facilities. Your programme includes the choice of either a rejuvenating full body massage or, for the more adventurous horse back riding where you can explore some of the 200 kilometres of trails.

Day 7 108 Mile House - Whistler

Today we take the scenic drive south along the Caribou Highway to the edge of Garibaldi Provincial Park and the popular resort of Whistler. The resort offers a wide choice of shops, restaurants and outdoor activities. Overnight (2 nights): Listel Hotel or similar.

Day 8 Whistler

Free choice today (you choose the activity that best suits you): ride a series of cables and suspension bridges on the exhilarating Zipline adventure over beautiful Fitzsimmons Creek. Alternatively join a guided canoe trip or, observe animal tracks and diverse flora and fauna on a guided nature walk through the forest.

Day 9 Whistler – Tofino

Following the Sea-to-Sky Highway, this morning we head towards the coast through a landscape carved out by glaciers and edged by craggy fjords. Sail across the Strait of Georgia to Vancouver Island arriving in Nanaimo we then drive through ancient rainforest to the west coast of the island. Overnight (2 nights): Best Western Tin Wis Resort or similar.

Day 10 Tofino

Today we embark on an exciting bear watching excursion aboard a Zodiac boat. You’ll follow the coastline to the feeding grounds of the black bear keeping an eye out for sightings of these magnificent creatures in their natural environment, a memorable experience!

Day 11 Tofino – Victoria

Departing Tofino we travel to the east coast of the island passing through quaint seaside town en route to Victoria, a beautiful city with a fascinating maritime charm. We’ll visit Milner Garden and Woodland which features diverse fauna and old growth forest surrounding a beautiful cabled heritage house. In the afternoon tour the Merridale cidery to enjoy a refreshing glass of cider. Overnight (2 night): Magnolia Hotel or similar.

Day 12 Victoria

Free choice today (you choose the activity that best suits you): watch for orcas, minke whales, porpoises, seals and other marine life aboard your boat excursion accompanied by a certified marine biologist. Alternatively join a guided hiking tour followed by a natural foot spa treatment.

Day 13 Victoria – Vancouver

This morning we’ll enjoy a visit to the beautiful floral displays at Butchart Garden before boarding the ferry that cruises through the Gulf Islands to Vancouver. The remainder of the day is yours to see some of this vibrant city. Overnight (2 nights): Best Western Sands or similar.

Day 14 Vancouver

Today we take a sightseeing tour of Vancouver with highlights that include: Stanley Park, English Bay, Gastown, China town and much more. We also stop at Storyeum, one of Vancouver’s newest attractions in which the history of British Columbia is brought to life through theatrical storytelling. This evening enjoy a lovely farewell dinner with your fellow travellers.

Day 15 Depart Vancouver

Fond farewells before making your own to the airport for your onward flight.
