6 day Sydney to
Melbourne Coastal Drive
Experience the vibrant essence
of Australia in a journey that
takes in native bushlands,
rugged mountain ranges,
rainforests alive with birds and
animals, secluded white sandy
beaches and historic villages.
This six day journey starts from
Sydney, then hugs the coast of
New South Wales heading south,
before venturing east into the
charming countryside of Victoria
and on to Melbourne; simply a
wonderful way to travel between
Australia’s two most exciting
and cosmopolitan cities.
Day 1 Sydney to Jervis Bay
122 miles 2½ hours
Travel through rolling hills to Jervis Bay and the
Ulladulla region, home to some of the best
beaches in Australia. Overnight at Dolphin
Sands B&B, including breakfast (Standard),
Paperbark Camp - safari-style tent with ensuite,
includes dinner and breakfast - (Superior).

Enjoy a more civilized style of camping at
Paperbark Camp, Jervis Bay, where you can
upgrade from the standard option to one of these safari
style en suite tents from £76.
Day 2 Jervis Bay to Tilba Tilba
125 miles 2¼ hours
Jervis Bay is renowned for its dolphins and a
morning dolphin cruise is almost guaranteed to
produce sightings. Travel south through
Narooma and the beautiful fishing town of
Batemans Bay to Tilba Tilba, known for its
excellent quality crafts and tea houses.
Overnight at Green Gables B&B, including
breakfast (Standard), The Bryn at Tilba B&B,
including breakfast (Superior).
The colonies of seals, penguins and seabirds
at Montague Island Nature Reserve 5 miles
offshore from Narooma, near Tilba Tilba.
Day 3
Tilba Tilba to Mallacoota
124 miles 2¼ hours
After breakfast leave Tilba Tilba and head to the
coast driving through little seaside towns. Stop
at the whaling museum in Eden, before
continuing to Mallacoota, a little coastal town
surrounded by lakes and national parks.
Overnight at The Waves Oasis, including
continental breakfast hamper (Standard),
Gipsy Point Lakeside Apartments (Superior).
Day 4
Mallacoota to Metung
134 miles 2½ hours
Take time to explore the unique wonders of
Croajingolong National Park, enjoy a range of
walking trails, surf beaches and BBQ sites only
accessible by water. Don’t miss a morning boat
trip to feed the magnificent sea eagles. Then
travel south to Cape Conran Coastal park for a
picnic lunch. Continue towards Lakes Entrance
and the picturesque village of Metung. Arrive in
time for a sail or motor yacht cruise on the
tranquil Gippsland lakes. Overnight at The
Moorings at Metung (Standard), Chestnut Hill
Country Retreat, including breakfast (Superior).
Day 5
Metung to Wallhalla
103 miles 2¼ hours
Travel through the heritage towns of Bairnsdale
and Sale before reaching the rolling hills of
Gippsland an area renowned for its produce.
Turn off to the historic township of Walhalla.
Take a ride on the Goldfields railway or a tour of
the world’s once richest gold mines. Walhalla is
the gateway to Mt Baw Baw a great venue for
skiing in winter and bushwalking in the warmer
months and the rainforest and waterfalls of
Tarra Bulga National Park. Overnight at
Walhalla’s Star Hotel, (includes breakfast).

Day 6 Wallhalla to Melbourne
116 miles 2½ hours
On the final leg of your journey, savour the fresh air and fresh produce
of the countryside a little longer. Stop for lunch and to browse gift
shops in Yarragon on the way to the gracious city of Melbourne. For
those with more time take an alternative route from Walhalla to
Wilsons Promontory the most southern mainland tip of Australia
offering visitors stunning scenery and wildlife. Then continue to Phillip
Island famed for the little Penguin Parade that occurs at sunset every
night.
